This project, funded by the EDCP (2020-2024) aims to reduce human deaths from rabies through a unique health system for managing patient information between stakeholders via a server (blockchain) coupled with a PPE supply decision algorithm adapted to local African contexts, in line with the WHO-OIE-FAO-GARC goal of zero human deaths from rabies by 2030. The objectives of this study are:
(i) Establish a sustainable supply of PPE;
(ii) Initiate a shortened intradermal post-exposure prophylaxis (ID-PEP) protocol for all victims of suspected rabies bites;
(iii) Establish and ensure a high level of communication and participation between all local and institutional actors;
(iv) Implement rapid diagnostic tests for animal rabies; (v) ensure the validity of the blockchain approach; and
(vi) conduct a comprehensive analysis of the access, coverage, and effectiveness of blockchain-secured PEP.
