DELTAS Africa 19: Afrique One -ASPIRE presents its achievements

From 15th to 17th July 2019, Afrique One -ASPIRE participated at the DELTAS Africa 2019 event in Dakar, Senegal. This scientific meeting, which brought together the 12 consortia of the DELTAS Africa program, provided an update on the level of research in Africa.

Afrique One-ASPIRE presented the findings and impact of its research and showcased its development, especially with regards to its young researchers’ training. The Fellows’ delegation delivered 8 oral presentations and presented 6 posters. All its studies focus on the elimination of zoonoses in Africa through One Health approach implementation.

In addition to scientific communication, our fellows also gave interviews to the African press to share their major achievements.

Afrique One-ASPIRE Achievements

Today, Africa One-ASPIRE is a leader in capacity building for researchers and practitioners in One Health. Afrique One-ASPIRE currently comprises of 65 fellows, a notable increase from the 38 initially planned, as a result of good planning and additional funding. Besides capacity building of young researchers, the program also helps with the improvement of working conditions in laboratories and supervision of students.

Afrique One-ASPIRE’s training success in numbers:

  • + 5’000 participants after three online courses open to all on “One Health”
  • 18 organized training sessions
  • 143 university and research institution supervisors
  • 155 publications of articles in peer-reviewed journals, including 105 of our fellows.
